Ordered take out prime rib for Father’s Day. Crappiest piece of meat I ever saw. They also forgot the mashed potatoes had to drive all the way back to pick up. Over priced garbage.
This past weekend, we ordered a 1/3 pan of chopped brisket and a 1/3 pan of pulled chicken for a Mother's Day gathering. OMG! Everyone raved about the food. Tender, juicy, and flavorful. This was our first time ordering from Shawn's, but it certainly won't be our last. Service was fantastic. I called and asked about ordering, they took my order, it was waiting for me at the agreed on time. Perfect!
This place is nothing like it used to be 5-10 years ago. Ordered 70 dollars worth of food because I was craving BBQ and I couldn't smoke my own due to time. The half chickens just had BBQ seasoning on it, no smoke flavor what so ever. The brisket tacos were extremely salty. The Mac and cheese was a dry mess. Just overall flavor is not there anymore. Please make your own BBQ because after making my own for the last 10 years and it being the labor of love, tasting this in a pinch did not get me my fix of BBQ. This place is more like a Mexican place with some tiny hints of BBQ which is fine if thats what theyre going for but definitely NOT the "smoke house BBQ" Shawn's used to be with the pink smoke ring etc on the meat. Really really disappointed. The sweet and sassy sauce is the only thing that is reminiscent of the old Shawn's. Service was good although we picked the food up for take out- Atmosphere seemed fine. Id prefer a bad atmosphere and slow service rather than how it is currently, for a restaurant, all things can be dismissed if the food is amazing and good quality.
